Teaching philosophy

Teaching philosophy

My approach is grounded in the belief that students learn best when they feel respected, supported, and challenged. Students arrive with different backgrounds and ways of thinking, so I try to meet them where they are and make the structure of the mathematics explicit.

I emphasize conceptual understanding alongside calculation. In mathematics and physics courses, I want students to understand why a method works, recognize when it applies, and communicate their reasoning clearly.

I also value the connection between classroom mathematics and later work in science, engineering, and quantitative fields. My background across mathematics, physics, computer science, and data science helps me make those connections part of the course rather than an afterthought.
